Objective

To enhance students' vocabulary by engaging them in a community-centered service project that emphasizes arts and aesthetics while promoting language development.

Duration

6 weeks (can be adjusted as needed)

Stage 1: Sensitization (Starting Point)

1 week (2 sessions, 45 min each)

• Discussion Circle: What is vocabulary? Why is it important?
• Storytelling & Art: Students share favorite words or stories, illustrating them with drawings or collages.

• Use simple language and visual aids.
• Encourage sharing personal experiences to foster connection.
• Introduce basic concepts of arts and aesthetics related to words.

Stage 2: What I Know & Want to Know (Research & Needs Identification)

1 week (2 sessions, 45 min each)

• Brainstorming: List words they already know and want to learn.
• Word Hunt: Students research new words related to arts, nature, or community.
• Needs Chart: Create a class chart of vocabulary gaps.

• Use dictionaries, picture books, and online resources.
• Focus on words related to arts (colors, shapes, artistic activities) to connect with aesthetic experiences.

Stage 3: Planning the Service Project (Design & Resources)

1 week (2 sessions, 45 min each)

• Project Brainstorming: Students plan how to create a "Vocabulary Art Wall" in the school.
• Roles & Tasks: Assign roles (researchers, artists, writers, organizers).
• Resource List: Collect art supplies, posters, words.

• Emphasize teamwork, creativity, and planning.
• Adapt tasks to students’ strengths and interests, fostering ownership.

Stage 4: Executing the Service

2 weeks (multiple sessions, 45 min each)

• Word Collection & Art Creation: Students gather words, illustrate, and design visual representations.
• Building the Vocabulary Wall: Assemble the art pieces into an aesthetic display in a common area.

• Use arts and aesthetic principles, such as color harmony and visual appeal.
• Incorporate peer collaboration and hands-on activities to reinforce vocabulary learning.

Stage 5: Sharing & Reflection

1 week (2 sessions, 45 min each)

• Presentation: Students explain their artwork and the words they chose.
• Reflection Journals: Write about what they learned and felt.
• Community Sharing: Invite other classes, teachers, or parents to view the Vocabulary Wall.

• Foster self-awareness and appreciation of language and art.
• Use reflective questions to deepen understanding (e.g., "How did creating art help you learn new words?").
