Stage

Time

Activities

Description & Adaptation

Present

10 min

Question for Reflection:
“How do people and animals move around in different places?”

Pose an open-ended question to activate curiosity about transportation. Use a colorful video showing various vehicles (YouTube). Keep language simple and visuals engaging.

Collect

10 min

 • Students discuss what they already know about vehicles.

Use a digital "brainstorm" via shared screen or chat. Encourage students to name vehicles they know. Adapt language to their level, prompting with images.

Formulate

10 min

Define the Problem:
“Our goal is to learn about different transportation vehicles and how to talk about them in English.”

Clarify the learning objective. Present a simple problem: “Can we learn the names and questions about vehicles?” Use visual aids and song snippets to reinforce.

Organize

10 min

 • Divide tasks: vocabulary, grammar practice, game activities.
 • Choose digital tools (Wordwall, videos).

Since only two students, roles are flexible (e.g., one practicing vocabulary, the other practicing questions). Use shared Google Jamboard for planning.

Build

15 min

 • Vocabulary practice: matching games with Wordwall.
 • Grammar practice: asking/answering “Does he/she have a ___?”
 • Song activity: sing “Transportation Song.”

Use digital activities, videos, and interactive games. Adapt by providing guided practice with visuals and repetition. Ensure active participation.

Verify & Analyze

10 min

 • Students identify the vehicles they learned.
 • Practice asking and answering questions.
 • Use a simple checklist or digital quiz.

Provide immediate feedback and encouragement. Use visual cues to assess understanding. Adapt questions to be simple and visual-based.

Share

5 min

 • Students share their favorite vehicle and say it in English.
 • Reflect on what they learned.

Use a virtual “show and tell.” Encourage speaking in full sentences. Use praise to reinforce learning.

Artistic Experiences Integration

Activities

Description & Adaptation

Create a Transportation Collage

Students draw or select images of vehicles and create a digital collage using free tools (e.g., Canva). They explain their collage in English, practicing vocabulary and sentences.

Transportation Song & Dance

Sing along with a simple transportation song. Students can add gestures for each vehicle to enhance understanding and engagement.

Storytelling with Vehicles

Students create a short story or comic strip about traveling with their favorite vehicle, encouraging creativity and language use.

Summary of Key Adaptations for 2nd Grade Level

 • Use clear visuals and real images of vehicles.
 • Keep language simple with repetitive structures.
 • Use digital multimedia for engagement.
 • Foster turn-taking and sharing to develop social skills.
 • Incorporate arts (drawing, storytelling) to reinforce learning creatively.

Note:

Ensure that during the Zoom sessions, students are actively engaged through questions, quick games, and visual supports. Provide simplified instructions and plenty of positive reinforcement to support their language development and curiosity about transportation.
