Activities

Description & Adaptation

Present (Pose initial reflection)

10 min

  • Show a short video introducing family members and describing people.
  • Ask: “Who are the people in your family?”

Students reflect on their own families, activating prior knowledge in accessible language. Use visual aids and simple questions to adapt to their level.

Collect (Gather prior knowledge)

10 min

  • Students share names of family members and describe them briefly.
  • Use a virtual "family tree" diagram to gather ideas.

Encourage students to express what they already know about family vocabulary and adjectives, fostering confidence.

Formulate (Define the problem)

10 min

  • Present the challenge: “Choose a family member or friend and tell us about them using vocabulary and adjectives.”
  • Clarify that they will organize their experiences into a short narration.

Frame the task clearly, ensuring understanding of what is expected and motivating them to think critically about their own experiences.

Organize (Plan and strategize)

15 min

  • Divide students into pairs or small groups via breakout rooms.
  • Assign tasks: select a person to describe, decide on adjectives, and plan their narration.
  • Use graphic organizers to outline their description (e.g., Who? What? How?).

Support their planning with sentence starters and vocabulary lists. Adapt strategies to their language level, encouraging peer collaboration.

Build (Execute strategies)

15 min

  • Students prepare a short oral or written description of their chosen person.
  • Use digital tools: Google Slides, Voice Recorder, or written document.
  • Incorporate vocabulary, adjectives, and grammar structures learned.

Facilitate the use of digital tools for expression, ensuring accessible instructions and step-by-step guidance.

Verify & Analyze (Evaluate results)

10 min

  • Share descriptions with the class via screen sharing or recordings.
  • Peer feedback: “What did you like?”, “Can you understand who they described?”

Promote critical thinking through constructive feedback, emphasizing respect and cultural appreciation.

Share (Socialize & assess learning)

10 min

  • Final presentations: each student presents their description.
  • Reflect: “What did you learn about describing people? How can this help us understand others?”

Foster intercultural awareness and critical reflection on personal experiences and cultural differences.
